During the 3 day sympathy flowers course you will be working with a wide range of beautiful seasonal flowers. You will be presented with a truly beautiful selection of flowers with which to work each day. We place emphasis on naturally styled sympathy flowers, encapsulating seasonality. Rather than using carnations and chrysanthemums we use an abundance of seasonal flowers and foliage's, using many different forms and textures.   

 

We will shown you how to create naturally styled sympathy flowers for the casket and for the ceremony. You will make both oasis and wired wreaths along with arrangements suitable for friends and family to give. You will also design mossed letters, a more natural feel alternative to the traditional flower based version. It's important for you to know that there will be a wicker casket in the school room for us to work with and to take images for your portfolio too. We are conscious that more and more of us are wanting to use more sustainable options so we will help to explore the options available to us. 

 

During the course we have both an independent Funeral Director and the curator of a natural burial ground come into school to talk about the relationships between themselves and the florist and, in the case of the natural burial ground what flowers are acceptable and those which are not. It gives you, the florist the opportunity to ask questions in a safe school environment.      

 

The flowers that we use are yours to keep and take away with you, wherever possible. We encourage you to take lots of images during the 3 days however we also encourage you to take your flowers home and take alternative images their too.     

 

We will look at costing formulas for your sympathy designs. We will cost each individual piece we make to give you an accurate retail value. 

 

We will start each day at 10am and finish at 4.30pm. The total cost of the course including all materials is £850.
